How long have you been employed at Seaboard?

I have been employed with Seaboard since August 2017.

What is your history/career path prior to Seaboard?

When I finished my accounting degree from the University of Regina, I worked for Deloitte in their Audit and Assurance department.  I obtained my Chartered Accountant designation and accepted a new opportunity with Mosaic Potash here in Regina.  I worked for Mosaic for a number of years within various Finance departments such as Financial Reporting, Internal Controls, and Financial Planning and Analysis.  In 2017 I was provided an opportunity to come and work for Seaboard where I am currently holding the role of Financial Director for Seaboard Special Crops.  

What are your current responsibilities?

Currently I direct, plan, and organize all finance functions for the Canadian operations.  I oversee a hard-working finance team, and jointly we partner with Seaboard Corporate to ensure all Canadian entities financial information is complete and accurate, and provided timely.  In addition, my role partners with a vast amount of internal and external parties necessary to ensure we set ourselves up for success.  

What do you enjoy most about working for Seaboard?

What I enjoy the most about working for Seaboard is the team atmosphere here in the Canadian operations, as well as abroad.  

What’s your favorite story/memory about working for Seaboard?

When I started with Seaboard, the timing worked out that I was able to go to the Controller Conference within the first few weeks of employment with the company.  At this conference I had the opportunity to meet and begin partnering with Finance leader from many different Seaboard owned companies.

Our Regina Seaboard location values professionalism, but in an open concept environment that drives communication.  We strive for efficient processes while ensuring our staff are engaged with a good work-life balance.  

What surprised you most about the job or its location?

When I started with Seaboard I was most surprised at the number of industries our company successfully does business in.

How do you spend your free time? What do you like to do in the city where you live?

I have two children who are 9 and 11 years old, and both are involved in multiple sports as well as other activities.  The majority of my free time currently is spent taking them to practices and games, and I also help coach my son’s soccer team as well as my daughter’s basketball team.
