Normal day at SSC Chapel Hill:

To begin with, the marketing team keeps up to date on global factors affect production, marketing opportunities and, in today’s environment, government interventions limiting, restricting and even banning the import of the product. A typical day finds the marketing team providing numerous price and market updates on products through various forms of rapid communications, (i.e., telephone, email, Skype, text and WhatsApp).

When we confirm a transaction, we enter a sales confirmation in the DYCO software system. Then, automatically we update our positions, print contracts and contracts are sent to the buyer for a counter signature.

The logistics team are experts at multi-tasking as they accumulate the contractual documentation for each shipment, which can vary from destination-to-destination and even from customer-to-customer. They are agile at solving shipment issues when shipping lines and/or freight forwarders roll bookings without pre-advice or shipments are jeopardized by late arrival at the port, due to rail issues, congestion and/or weather. The job requires a detailed eye for rapid checking of all documents for accuracy. As well as, an organizational ability to ensure that deadlines are met.
