The Hospital of the Order of Malta in Dakar, Senegal originated as a specialized center for the treatment of leprosy back in 1967. According to their website, “Modernized and extended, it was renamed the Hospital of the Order of Malta in Dakar (CHOM) and re-inaugurated in April 2011.” Their website states that the hospital participates in surgical activities, including orthopedics, prosthetics of hips and knees, the arthroscopy diagnostic and operative, non-traumatic hand and spine surgery and fights against leprosy. They also support thirteen dispensaries around Senegal that receive medicine and medical devices.

SOTG and Les Grands Moulins de Dakar have given the Hospital of the Order of Malta in Dakar a monetary donation to help them purchase new equipment for the hospital.
