Your Privacy is important to Seaboard Overseas and Trading Group (collectively “We,” “Our,” “Us,” or “SOTG”). We developed this Website Privacy Policy (“Policy”) to provide you with information concerning our personal data collection and usage, as well as our privacy and security practices, when you visit our online Site. This Policy does not apply to or address our job applicant privacy practices.

SOTG Applicant Privacy Policy

For the purposes of this Policy:

Personal Data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.

Processing” means any operation, whether passive or active, such as collection, storage, use, disclosure, adaption, or destruction.

You” and “Your” refers to any person reading this Privacy Policy who is accessing our online Site.

  • Personal Data that is Processed when you We also may do research on our users’ demographics and behavior based on the information provided to us upon registration, gathered from transaction activity, from our server log files or from surveys.  This research may be compiled, analyzed, or sold on an aggregated basis, which does not include information identifying individual users.

We use the information you voluntarily provide and the information we collect automatically to provide you with customized content, fulfill your requests for products and services, contact you, conduct research, monitor traffic on the site and provide anonymous reporting for internal and external uses.  We may also share your information with our corporate affiliates.

Cookies and Automated Tracking Technology

Seaboard automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser, including your IP address, cookie information and the page you request.  A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive.  We use cookies to allow faster and easier access, monitor traffic on the site and measure traffic patterns to improve functionality.

Disclosures of your Personal Data

  • For Company Analytical Research: We may do research on our users’ demographics and behavior based on the information provided to us upon registration, gathered from transaction activity, from our server log files or from surveys.  This research may be compiled, analyzed, or sold on an aggregated basis, which does not include information identifying individual users.
  • To Parties Involved in Legal Actions: We also may disclose account information in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be violating any terms of use posted on our Site or may otherwise be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) our rights or property, other Site users or customers, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities.  We only disclose or access your Personal Data for this reason when we believe in good faith that the law requires it.

In some circumstances, we will store your personal information for longer periods of time, for instance where we are required to do so in accordance with legal, regulatory, or necessary technical requirements.

Protecting Your Personal Data  

We implement technical and organizational security measures that are designed to assist in maintaining proper security and confidentiality of your Personal Data. For example, we implement company-wide access controls to minimize unnecessary employee access to Personal Data.  We also operate on-site security cameras to minimize and deter any physical threats to any Personal Data systems and for investigative purposes in the case of fraud or theft.

Our website is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not process Personal Data submitted from individuals under the age of 18 for any purposes. We will update this Notice from time to time as we change our data processing practices or if we change our general data protection and information governance policies.
